Lego Technic has linked up with the National Schools Partnership to bring construction to extra-curricular activities.
Lego has announced an association with specialist schools agency, the National Schools Partnership (NSP) to develop the Lego Technic Club, an after school club which will be introduced in 2008. The association, developed by Carat Sponsorship is designed to encourage 9-11 year olds to get involved in design and technology and engineering.
The firm says inspiring children to explore and develop their own creative potential, innovation and imagination will be key elements of the ‘how to’ guides and activity ideas for teachers.
A microsite and activity materials will be designed to help teachers easily engage children in creativity and construction.
Laura di Bonaventura, Brand Manager of Lego Technic said: “We are delighted to start our partnership with schools and teachers to help make the Design & Technology subject fun and offer children the opportunity to explore their learning through the Lego Technic models and their functionalities.
We know teachers are already familiar and use the Lego Technic range for their projects, but hopefully this partnership will provide them with the support they need whilst driving children’s’ hands on experience and interaction with the Lego Technic range.”
Mark Fawcett, Chief Executive of the National Schools Partnership said of the resources, “Not only will Lego Technic after school clubs be a time for fun and challenging play, they will also get pupils immersed in design, construction and engineering, skills that will enhance the primary curriculum”.
