Did you agree with this year's Dream Toys selection?

Always contentious and never able to please everyone, the Dream Toys Dream Dozen selection is always a talking point. Should it be a showcase for the industry's best and most innovative products or should it be a genuine jigsaws and all reflection of retail's Christmas best-sellers?

So send us your view on this year's choice through the ToyNews website.

“growing up should be fun!”

In my opimion it's not whats on the list that's important; its more that these toys should represent the diversity of product that is on offer to the consumer and that each nomination should act as a great ambassador for the toy industry in what has been a very tough year.
The PR value is apparent and the list offers a once a year opportunity to show off the way toys enhance childhood on every level.
Growing up should be fun!

It'll be interesting to see how accurate that list is, to say I'm a little surprised by the inclusion of Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee would be an understatement, at almost £80 he dwarves the rest in the Boys Toys list in terms of price

“An impossible task ...in general , a pretty fair selection”

The problem with just 12 slots is that inevitably many companies get frozen out . Move it to a Top 20 and then I think more companies get a piece of the action .The good news from today is that journos focused on great toys , not where they were made !

it creates huge press and tv coverage for the industry and whilst it is impossible to please everyone, it really reminds consumers that now is the time to be thinking of Toys for Christmas.

Radica have been manufacturing and supporting some of the hottest lines over the past 5 years (20Q, Girl Tech, Plug and Play, Skannerz) yet they only make it into the top 12 now they are owned by Mattel.......

It doesn't really matter which products are chosen as long as it raises the profile of toys in the face of the omnipotent video game. That industry has much deeper pockets than the toy business and a far sexier image so we need all the help we can get to grab the attention of kids and parents.

“Re: Let the kids decide!”

What’s done is done this year.
In the future, I believe to stop any criticism or any cynical swipes at events such as this, a Dream Toy will only ever be considered "fair", if judged by the people that it they are aimed at - Kids!
How can anyone argue who wins what or who ends up in the "Dream 12", if a children’s judging panel has decided the winners.

Last year and in previous years, kids did decide on the toys they liked through the Duracell Toy of the Year survey in 9 countries.
