Build-A-Bear Workshop has launched its own virtual world, Buildabearville.com.
The new site allows visitors to create a character, decorate its online home, and play games. Chat is also available.
People can become members of Buildabearville.com at no cost and the membership doesn’t expire.
Safeguards have been built into the site so when a child signs up, parents receive an e-mail regarding communication options based on age and comfort level, the firm says.
Maxine Clark, founder and CEO said more than 53 million stuffed animals have been made in stores throughout the UK and US.
“We feel that Buildabearville.com is a great way for guests to continue to enhance their relationships with their furry friends and with our brand.
“We have worked with parents and industry experts to develop a system where parents are in control of the chat options for their children and the site is monitored for safe socialisation,” Clark said.
