Further growth for Bandai

Bandai’s full year results show turnover and profit rising across the group, with Tamagotchi sales still increasing overseas.
The firm’s full year ended March 31st showed net profits up 71 per cent from ¥14.1billion to ¥24.2 billion (€148.9 million). Turnover was up from ¥450.8 billion to ¥459.1 billion.
Toys performed well with net sales up from ¥181 billion to ¥185.5 billion. Operating income in the toy sector fell, however, from ¥19 billion to ¥17.4 billion.
Overall sales in Europe rose from ¥31 billion to ¥37.7 billion with operating income up from ¥4.3 billion to ¥5.2 billion.
Sales of Tamagotchi have dropped off in Japan from 6.1 million units last year to 1.6 million in FY07 but have continued to rise overseas from 6.9 million to 7.05 million units.
