Youngsters grabs Toyworld stores
Ronnie Dungan Sep 30 2005, 5:00pm
Youngsters has acquired The Toyworld Group, the Leeds based retail chain run by Gary and Stuart Sadler.
Founded in 1977 Toyworld grew to comprise 22 stores, trading as Toyworld Megastore, Toyworldstore and The Toy Factory. It also has a successful e-commerce site at www.toyworldstore.com.
Youngsters group chairman Peter Allison said of the deal: "The synergies between the two groups are patently obvious. The opportunity to combine the buying power of Toyworld’s factory outlets with our own outlets in the South was irresistible".
For their part Gary and Stuart are looking forward to working within the Youngsters Group, but insist that the move is tinged with sadness as it breaks a long association with Toymaster.
Gary Sadler said: "We have a lot to thank Toymaster for, but are very heartened that the working relationship between Northampton and Wallingford appears to be as strong as ever."
Youngsters group MD Keith Elmer added: "Personally I am very excited about the prospect of working closely with Gary and Stuart, two of the most highly respected personalities in the industry. This is good news for the Group, the members, the staff in both organisations and the suppliers who will have increased opportunities."
