aqsiq, chinaChina cancels manufacturers' qualifications

More than 1000 export qualifications of Chinese toy makers have been revoked by the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ), according to reports.

The AQSIQ has conducted checks on all toy exporters and cancelled 1074 licenses since August, while also establishing an initial product safety evaluation system where each new product undergoes a risk evaluation before it can be mass produced and exported.

It has also adopted a strict registration system for paint and printing ink suppliers to try and stop excessive amounts of lead being used in the production of toys.

This campaign comes after more than 760 manufacturers had their export licenses revoked or suspended in China’s Guangdong province at the beginning of November.
