WowWee finalises deal to produce film based on successful robotics range.
The firm has finalised its production deal with Avi Arad (Arad Productions) and Steven Paul (Crystal Sky Pictures) to produce Robsapien: Rebooted, which will combine “a compelling live action story with the most advanced computer-generated imagery (CGI)." It's slated for release in 2009.
Under the agreement, WowWee will have the exclusive worldwide right to market toys associated with the film and its characters, and would receive a share of the income from all other merchandising associated with the film.
It first announced in March 2007 that it was in talks with Arad, the former chairman and CEO of Marvel Studios, to produce a movie starring its flagship toy robot.
