Consumer product safety meeting scheduled for November, according to a report.
The EU and US have agreed to work closely in order to push Chinese manufacturers to meet Western safety standards, according to EU Business.
EU Consumer Affairs Commissioner Meglena Kuneva (pictured) held talks with Nancy Nord, chair of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, agreeing to work together.
"We are pro-open markets, (but) not compromising on safety," Kuneva said.
"It will be very important that the two major economies in the world will be speaking with one voice on this very important issue," Nord added.
The EU, US and China will hold a consumer product safety meeting in Brussels on November 15th. Prior to this Kuneva plans to visit China in June while Nord is scheduled to visit in September, along with delegates from the European Commission.
