Redesigned consumer website launches as brand experiences a surge in popularity.
Worldwide rights owners, Seven Towns, has re-launched the Rubik’s Cube website.
Updated daily, the site, www.rubiks.com, contains information on the history of the cube, facts and figures, and a selection of Rubik’s themed games. There’s also Master Classes and a seven-step guide to solving the cube, a calendar of events and a chat forum along with an online shop.
David Hedley Jones, senior vice president, Rubik brand, said: “The Rubik’s brand is a truly long-term gaming phenomenon, and it’s flying really high again.
Last year’s worldwide unit sales topped 12 million – the largest annual figure since the height of The Cube’s popularity, back in the 80s.”
The Cube’s Hungarian inventor, Professor Erno Rubik, added: “If it’s capable of living for almost 30 years, it’s probably capable of living forever.”
