Shiner stamps out counterfeit Heelys

The number of fake Heelys on the market drops considerably, according to UK distributor, Shiner.
The action sports firm from Bristol says it has worked closely with the media and Customs in order to keep the public informed and the counterfeit products off the market.
Charlie Allen, director, told ToyNews: “Infringing products in the market place has died down but we’re still seizing some. They’re made down to a price so they’re a far more inferior product, but the public realise this.”
HM Customs officials intercepted and seized thousands of counterfeit pairs, which infringe the Heelys trademark or patent, between May and August last year.
Shiner was then responsible for destroying them.
“It costs 60 pence a pair to destroy and of course there’s the environmental destruction. Around 30 per cent of them are coming from one factory in China and the company knows full well that customs are seizing the products,” Allen told ToyNews.
