Thomas the Tank Engine breaks world record for the longest toy train set.

The train set is 1.8km, breaking the current Guinness World Record, which is 1,650.14m.

The set is built at Thomas Land at the Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire and is built with 10,530 pieces from the new Thomas Track Master train set.

The track took a team of six people two weeks to design and was built by the Royal British Legion Industries.

The train set is built in sections of five tier high spirals interspersed with popular Thomas destinations from the Island of Sodor.

Turner Media

There are 48 spirals of track in total and the whole track takes up an area 3 meters wide by 50 meters long.

The new record has been submitted to Guinness World Records for official adjudication. We are expecting conformation shortly. The record attempt is made by Tomy, Hit Entertainment and Drayton Manor Theme Park.
