Asda begins price war

Asda has taken a hatchet to its toy range, lopping the price of 40 games and assorted other lines as it lays the ground for a vicious Christmas price war.
Price cut products include games such as Operation, Guess Who? and Monopoly plus other lines such as Bratz, Baby Born, Turtles and Fantastic Four products.
The firm claims its latest cuts mean the range is up to thirty per cent cheaper than high street rivals Woolworths, Argos and Toys R Us.
Board games like Buckaroo and Twister are now available for £7.87; Fantastic Four Hands for £12.94 and Batman Begins Action Figures for £5.47.
Tony Page, non-food director at ASDA said:"With purse strings tightening and more people watching the pennies this year our job is to keep pushing prices even lower."
